Renewable energy delivered more than 100% of Portugal’s energy in March, producing more clean power than it could use!
Over the month, Portugal had periods of sole reliance on renewable energy.
The country is predicting that renewables will satisfy its mainland electricity needs by 2040, ultimately eliminating the electricity sector’s greenhouse gas emissions. Local coal power stations have made future plans to close due to fossil fuels becoming obsolete in the country.
