In a bid to reduce carbon emissions, Tops Day Nurseries started investing in electric cars in 2017 for their staff to use when needing to travel at work (see Tops Day Nurseries goes greener with electric cars).

More recently, their hard-working Health and Safety team have been undertaking ESOS Phase 2 assessments across the business.

If you have not heard of ESOS (Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme), it is a government established energy assessment scheme for organisations in the UK; every 4 years, assessments must be carried out and these audit the energy used by buildings, industrial processes and transport to identify cost-effective energy saving measures. Each business must notify the Environment Agency if they have complied with their ESOS obligations.

Today Tops is ecstatic to report that since implementing electric cars, and since ESOS Phase 1 finished, the group has reduced energy consumption by company vehicles by a massive 17.36%!
